IT’S A FAD, PEOPLE! It seems that while people are joining the micro-blogging site in droves, a whole lot of them don’t end up sticking around for long. A Nielsen Co. report released yesterday shows that 60% of Twitter users do not return to the microblogging site the next month.

Yamaguchi, an engineer in Hiroshima on a business trip for Mitsubishi Heavy Industries on August 6, 1945 was just stepping off a tram when the atomic bomb Little Boy was dropped over the city 3 kilometers away. The resulting explosion destroyed his eardrums, blinded him temporarily, and left him with serious burns over the left side of the top half of his body. Yamaguchi spent a fitful night in an...

ROBOTS LEARN TO LIE IN ORDER TO KILL OFF OTHER... →
Three colonies of bots in the 50th generation learned to signal to other robots in the group when then found food or poison. But the fourth colony included lying cheats that signaled food when they found poison and then calmly rolled over to the real food while other robots went to their battery-death. Eerily wicked, to say the least. Saving the robots’ honor, luckily, there were also a few...

FACEBOOK USERS - YOU HAVE 48 HOURS TO VOTE! →
Facebook is calling the Internet’s collective bluff on being concerned about [the TOS]. To avoid what one might call the tyranny of the easily outraged—to keep from making a major policy change because of some perfect storm of Twitter, Consumerist, and the mass media—they’re requiring that at least 30% of active users in the past month participate in the vote for it to count.

Media Having Trouble Finding Right Angle On... →
“What exactly is the news hook here?” asked Rick Kaplan, executive producer of the CBS Evening News. “Is this an upbeat human-interest story about a ‘day in the life’ of a bloodthirsty president who likes to kill people? Or is it more of an examination of how Obama’s unusual upbringing in Hawaii helped to shape the way he would one day viciously butcher two...

“What’s now beyond dispute — largely from the (COLUMBINE) killers’ journals, which have been released over the past few years, is this: Harris and Klebold killed 13 and wounded 24, but they had hoped to kill thousands.
The pair planned the attacks for more than a year, building 100 bombs and persuading friends to buy them guns. Just after 11 a.m. on April 20, they lugged a pair...
HOW TO TURN 2 CARDBOARD BOXES INTO A SOLAR OVEN... →
“The ingeniously simple design uses two cardboard boxes, one inside the other, and an acrylic cover that lets in the sun’s rays and traps them.
Black paint on the inner box, and silver foil on the outer one, help concentrate the heat. The trapped rays make the inside hot enough to cook casseroles, bake bread and boil water.”

WE LIVE IN PUBLIC REVIEW →
So i saw We Live In Public at the MoMA on Sunday, and it seriously blew my mind. I STRONGLY recommend you see it when you can.
I am posting this link to the Sundance review, because it perfectly captures the way I felt after the film. I got in a cab, pulled out my iPhone to post about it on Facebook…. and I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.
